Kate Stovold and Ben Stowe – congratulations to our latest generation of partners from all at LMP
01 April 2021

Kate StovoidKate: When you work long and busy hours, the people you work with are just as important, if not more, than the job you do.  I consider the invitation to join the partnership at LMP a great privilege, and an opportunity that I have worked long and hard for since qualifying in 2012. Joining a partnership, particularly at a boutique practice like LMP, is more than a simple business decision.  You vote with your head and your heart.  So why LMP? When I first interviewed at LMP with Simon and Jeremy, the founding partners, I felt at home.  That feeling stays with me today. My husband, a military man, works abroad a lot.  I spend significant chunks of time on my own.  Knowing that, Alison invited me to spend a wonderfully relaxing weekend with her and boys at her home.  I left knowing a lot more about dinosaurs! My husband moved a garden urn for Simon and his lovely wife, Sara.  Long story, and I am sworn to secrecy (!) but I remember the tea and biscuits in their beautiful garden afterwards and lively chatter. Jeremy and Kathryn regularly extend their generous hospitality both in London and Kent.  Kathryn’s salmon en-croute is second to none. Being a Partner is so much more than an email signature.  It’s about family, and that’s what LMP is all about.

Ben: I remember my second day at LMP, the partners were celebrating the firms 20 year anniversary and hosted a party at Spring Restaurant in Somerset House. The great and the good of family law were there. Top silks and senior juniors from the very best chambers, current and retired high court judges and former presidents of the family division. I could see that LMP were operating at the very highest level. Jeremy Levison, Simon Pigott and Alison Hayes are giants of the industry and I knew that the work that I would be exposed to and the experience I would gain would be invaluable.

From the first moment, I felt right at home at LMP. In the years that followed, my practice (and that of LMP) has gone from strength to strength and my client base has grown exponentially. My work still has a strong international element to it. I was delighted to have been offered partnership at the firm – there are exciting times ahead for LMP.
